DIY Development Assessment and Development Plan - January 14, 2015
In my consulting practice I see how many organizations struggle to find a way to take their fundraising to the next level. Sometimes when we are so close to something it is hard to see what needs to change in order to grow and improve. In this series I will help participants figure out how to assess their current fundraising program and then create a plan designed to take your organization to the next level utilizing best practices and researched methods based on what donors want.
In my experience once organizations go through these steps their ability to raise more money and rally their board, staff and volunteers to assist in the process increases measurably.
*This mini-series also includes two personal coaching/consulting sessions*
For those who don’t know where to start in doing an assessment or creating a development plan this is a great course. This course is for anyone who is accountable for raising funds for a nonprofit- it is not just for Development Directors.
DIY Development Assessments and Development Plans
Instructor: Sally Dadmun-Bixby
January 14-February 18, 2015, 6 week session, 2 coaching sessions
3-hours per week
$750.00 per WVDO member organization, $850 non-member
Maximum 12 participants
Nonprofit ED's, board members, and Development professionals- whoever is responsible for raising funds in their organization- will do an assessment of their fundraising program and with Sally's help and that of their peers, create a Development plan. There will be a few guest speakers to talk about grant writing, donor base management and other topics that the group requests. It will include one 30 minute coaching session via phone about half way through the program and one in person session within a couple weeks of the class ending.
Participants will evaluate their strategies through their assessments and then fine-tune their fundraising program by setting up an organized Development plan based on best practices in the field. Sally will teach these best practices during the six weeks and help tailor their plan so it makes sense for the size and depth of the organization. Most small to medium sized nonprofits are overstretched and need to be mindful about how they spend their time. Using effective methods that emphasize activities proven to increase donor loyalty and giving, participants will start their year off on the right foot with a plan to raise more funds and keep their donors in 2015.
Deliverable: written development assessment of participant’s organization based on topic areas covered during this training.
Deadline: January 6, 2015
